12/6/2018 0 Comments Community lossDear Parents/Carers,
Yesterday the school released correspondence to all families regarding the loss of one of our teachers, Mr Dennis Rattee. Mr Rattee was a Math Coach at Nose Creek School who worked closely with teachers and came into our classroom to teach students math lessons on numerous occasions. This loss as been felt by the whole community as Mr Rattee was such a passionate and gifted teacher and a giving colleague. Students were supported yesterday to manage this loss and the love felt here at Nose Creek School has been incredible. Thank you to all families who have sent their condolences to teaching staff, we greatly appreciate your support at this difficult time. Meg Leach

Hello Parents and Guardians - We are nearing the end of the first cycle of Math learning, and wanted to inform you that all students in Grade 5 will be completing a Math quiz on Monday December 3rd. Students have been working hard the past several weeks, and have built a stronger understanding when it comes to multiplicaiton and patterns. For the quiz, your child should be able to: - multiply 2-digit x 2-digit numbers - calculate the area and perimeter of a shape - add and subtract 6-digit by 6-digit numbers - recognize and draw the next pattern in a series of images - find the missing number in an equation (for example: 27 = 3 x ___ ) - read and solve multiplication related word problems Students will be practicing at school for this quiz. If you would like to practice at home, we would encourage you to make sure you are playing the math games and reviewing basic facts. Please contact your child's homeroom teacher if you have any further questions. Thank you, Grade 5 Teachers 11/30/2018 0 Comments Second trimester option starts monday5D have completed their Music tuition and will be moving into a Drama program. 11/20/2018 0 Comments Parent Teacher Conferences reminderParent/Teacher Conferences will be held this Thursday and Friday meaning that your child will NOT attend school on these days.
If you have not yet already, please make an appointment to meet me and discuss your child's learning. If you are having trouble booking an appointment online, please call the front office and they will assist you. Many thanks, Meg Leach 11/20/2018 0 Comments Return of gradesToday results for the 'Region Research Tasks' went live on Powerschool. Students also received a rubric with specific feedback and grades in class.
A reminder if you are trying to view results for your child along with the comments I have written on Powerschool, you must use the web based platform, the App will not show you their grades or comments. Another reminder that grades are fluid and flexible as the term moves on and this is a snapshot of your child's ability at one time. It's a pleasure to have you all in my class. Uniquely, at Nose Creek School, Grade 5 will spend half the year learning the curriculum in English, and then (in Term 2) will commence an Intensive French Program for the remainder of the year. I am here from Manly Beach, Sydney, Australia as part of the Teacher Exchange Program and will be teaching the English component of the course. Mme Cross will be returning from Australia in January to complete the year with you and the Intensive French component of the course. At this time, I will return to Australia to continue my teaching there. Should you wish to contact me, email is best and this can always be found on the 'contact' page of this blog. [email protected] I look forward to working with you this year! Mrs Meg Leach |
